Will my photos and negatives be safe within the DigiScan studio? Absolutely! We handle your material with kid gloves, almost literally, we wear soft white cotton gloves always, in fact, your photos and negatives will occasionally be returned with a little less dust than when sent, no offense...

How big will my digitised photos be when scanned? The short answer is very big! The slightly longer answer is approximately 5400 x 3600 pixels for 35mm, even larger for medium format. That is roughly 6k in screen size terms, and plus or minus 20MB for jpg files and 100MB+ for tiff files

Can I pick and choose which frames to scan from a negative strip? Yes. We all have a collection of photographs  containing a number of gaffs, and we don't want to pay good money for bad mistakes. Just label negatives clearly so we can easily see what we need to do. We simply don't have time to decrypt anything poorly collated.

I have some underexposed photos, can you help me? Possibly, negatives and slides contain quite a lot of hidden details in the shadow or dark areas. This can sometimes be recovered in post production, but it often includes unwanted noise or grain. We can't guarantee the results, but we will do our best to achieve results that are acceptable to you.

Will colourising photos recreate the original colours from the scene? No, but please don't be put off. Photoshop uses artificial intelligence to create the best possible reconstruction using cutting edge technology, but it's not fool proof. We can and do alter the images after colouration, so if you have a particular colour preference for a dress or vase or anything else, just let us know and we will fix it for you.

Can you scan Medium Format negatives? Definitely. We use dedicated medium format scanners which were specifically designed for this task, and they give excellent results. By default we scan at 4000dpi, but we can scan at 3200dpi if you prefer smaller file sizes, just give us a call, drop an email, or mark it clearly on your package. If you opt for tiff files, then 3200dpi might be more suitable for you anyway, those tiff files can be huge...
